Jai, Suraj Venjaramoodu Lead Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s New Film Texla

Jai and Suraj Venjaramoodu join hands for Texla, the upcoming film directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

Actors Jai and Suraj Venjaramoodu are set to headline Aishwarya Rajinikanth's upcoming directorial venture Texla, which officially commenced production with a traditional pooja ceremony in Chennai on March 6, 2026. The film, produced by Kannan Ravi Group under the banner KRG Productions (project number KRG09), marks Aishwarya's return to direction following her previous work Lal Salaam. The auspicious launch event, held at The Leela Palace, was attended by family members including Latha Rajinikanth, along with industry figures such as director Bala and composer Anirudh Ravichander.

Texla is described as a rural period drama set decades ago, revolving around the world of children and evoking nostalgia through its storytelling. The project promises an emotional, layered narrative that takes audiences down memory lane, blending heartfelt elements with a multi-lingual release planned across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi to reach a wider audience. Tamil star Jai takes on the protagonist role, while National Award-winning Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu features in a pivotal, supporting part—potentially as Jai's father—bringing his acclaimed versatility to the ensemble. Additional cast members include Anantharaj, G.M. Sundar, George Marian, and others in prominent roles.

The film's music, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, adds significant anticipation, marking Aishwarya's second collaboration with the composer after Vai Raja Vai (2015). Earlier teasers released in multiple languages highlighted the nostalgic tone, with visuals hinting at a rural backdrop rich in emotion and childhood themes. The pooja ceremony included glimpses shared on social media by the team, showcasing the excitement around the project's start and the involvement of key crew members.

This collaboration unites talents from Tamil and Malayalam cinema, with Jai known for his charismatic screen presence in family entertainers and Suraj Venjaramoodu gaining pan-Indian recognition through diverse, award-worthy performances. The film's multi-language approach and focus on emotional, period storytelling position it as a family-oriented entertainer with broad appeal. As shooting begins, Texla is expected to build momentum with further updates on its cast, crew, and production progress in the coming months.
