“She Mistook His Kindness for Weakness!” Crew Defends Justin Baldoni Amid Blake Lively Lawsuit
Spencer’s comments lend weight to Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and publicist Leslie Sloane.
Just as the controversy surrounding ‘It Ends With Us’ seemed to quiet down, a former crew member has come forward to defend director Justin Baldoni in his ongoing legal battle with actor Blake Lively.
Talia Spencer, a storyboard artist who worked on the film, spoke to ‘60 Minutes Australia’ in a recent episode, offering support for Baldoni while subtly critiquing Lively’s role in the behind-the-scenes conflict. “I feel like maybe Blake smelled his kindness, mistook it for weakness, and tried to take advantage and take power,” Spencer said.
Spencer’s comments lend weight to Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and publicist Leslie Sloane. Baldoni’s legal team alleges civil extortion, defamation, and interference with the creative process. The suit followed Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign.

Without diving into specifics, Spencer suggested that Baldoni was forced to compromise his artistic vision due to Lively’s involvement. “There was a massive compromise in terms of Justin’s original vision for the film,” she said. “It was taken over, which was a little bit sad.”
Speaking about her personal experience, Spencer described Baldoni as “one of the few directors I’ve worked for that was kind and respectful.” She added that she joined the project because he was deeply invested in the story and “not in it for fame.”
Spencer’s testimony adds a new dimension to the escalating dispute, offering a glimpse into the creative tensions that allegedly played out on set.
‘It Ends With Us’, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, stars Blake Lively and was produced under intense scrutiny due to the off-screen drama that now threatens to overshadow the film’s release.
