“I Don’t Want To Hurt Anyone”: Trisha Krishnan On Marriage And Divorce
Trisha Krishnan says she doesn’t believe in divorce and will carefully choose a life partner.
Actress Trisha Krishnan has once again found herself in the media spotlight following her recent appearance with actor-politician Vijay at the wedding reception of producer Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh’s son on March 5 in Chennai. Their appearance sparked intense speculation about their relationship, particularly in the wake of Vijay’s wife, Sankgeetha Sornalingam, filing for divorce in December 2025, which became public in late February.
Amid the renewed attention, an old 2016 interview of Trisha has resurfaced, where she expressed her strong stance against divorce and shared her careful approach to marriage. Speaking to IndiaGlitz, Trisha emphasized, “I don’t believe in divorce. I will think 100 times before marriage. I don’t want to end up hurting someone else or living an unhappy life.” She explained that marriage, for her, is secondary to finding a compatible life partner and that she prioritizes love and companionship over formalities.
Trisha also highlighted that her personal experiences shaped this outlook. A few months before the interview, she had called off her engagement to Chennai-based businessman Varun Manian in 2015 after he asked her to quit acting. “Instead of films, I chose to put a full stop to my engagement. I will only take a break when I get pregnant,” she had told Onmanorama, underscoring her commitment to her career and personal principles.

The actress recently made headlines again when actor Parthiban made a controversial remark at the Galatta Awards, referring to her role as Kundavai and suggesting she “should be kept at home for a few days.” Trisha responded firmly on X, calling the comment “stupidity” and criticizing the crude words. Parthiban later issued a public apology for his remarks.
Trisha and Vijay have shared a successful onscreen pairing in Kollywood over the years, starring together in hits such as Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi, and Kuruvi. The duo reunited after a 15-year gap for the film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, reigniting public interest in their collaboration.
Trisha’s candid remarks and principled stance on marriage, combined with her recent public appearances, continue to make her a subject of discussion among fans and media, highlighting her dedication to personal values and professional commitments.
