Aarti Ravi's Mother Explains Maintenance Claim as Court Orders Interim Payment

The divorce proceedings between actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi have taken a fresh turn after Aarti's mother, producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, publicly explained the financial demands made during the case and addressed reports surrounding the request for Rs 40 lakh in monthly maintenance. Her remarks came shortly before Ravi Mohan shared a cryptic message on social media, adding another chapter to the ongoing legal dispute. The case continues to draw public attention as both sides present differing accounts of the family's financial and personal circumstances.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Sujatha Vijayakumar rejected claims that the Rs 40 lakh monthly maintenance request was intended solely for Aarti's personal expenses. She alleged that Ravi Mohan left the family facing severe financial difficulties, including substantial debt and a bank seizure notice. According to Sujatha, the financial burden has affected the family's daily life and the upbringing of Ravi and Aarti's two sons, Aarav and Ayaan, making financial support essential during the ongoing legal proceedings.

Sujatha further stated that both children are enrolled in an American school, a decision she claimed Ravi himself had made. She said the annual school fees amount to approximately Rs 86 lakh and noted that the Chennai Family Welfare Court has directed Ravi Mohan to bear those educational expenses. She added that the court also ordered Ravi to pay Rs 3 lakh per month as interim maintenance to Aarti and Rs 1 lakh each per month for both children, along with the cost of their extracurricular activities.

Responding to allegations that Aarti had prevented Ravi from meeting their sons, Sujatha denied the claim and asserted that it was Aarti who approached the court to ensure the actor received access to the children. According to the court's interim order, there should be no restrictions on the children meeting their father while the divorce proceedings remain pending, reflecting an effort to protect the children's relationship with both parents.

Hours after Sujatha's comments, Ravi Mohan posted a cryptic message on Instagram Stories without naming anyone directly. Thanking his friends for supporting him, he wrote that it was "unfortunate that some people continue to act in ways that amount to contempt of court." He also stated that "the four of us will not ever be in the same room together as long as I am alive," before concluding the post with the message, "Choose your friends wisely." Later, he shared a more positive update, posting a family photograph and revealing that he had screened footage from his directorial debut, An Ordinary Man, for his parents and brother.

According to reports, the Chennai Family Welfare Court rejected Aarti Ravi's request for Rs 40 lakh in monthly maintenance in July 2026 and instead ordered Ravi Mohan to pay Rs 3 lakh per month as interim maintenance until the divorce case is concluded. The court also directed him to meet the children's educational expenses and ensured continued access to his sons. Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi, who married in June 2009, separated after Ravi publicly announced their split in September 2024, with the legal proceedings continuing amid conflicting claims from both sides.
