Yash Pauses Speech After Sound Box Setup Collapses at 'Toxic' Event
Sound box collapse at Yash's Hyderabad event injures two students.
Actor Yash paused his speech during the pre-release event of Toxic at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad on Saturday night after part of a sound box setup collapsed near the crowd. The incident occurred as the actor was addressing a large gathering of students and fans who had assembled for the promotional event. Two students were reportedly injured after the structure fell towards the crowd, while a young woman was also reported to have lost consciousness following the incident. The injured students were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, though the exact nature and severity of their injuries were not immediately known.
According to visuals from the event, several students had gathered close to the stage and some were seen climbing onto poles and structures supporting sound boxes and other equipment. The additional weight and movement reportedly caused the heavy setup to collapse towards the crowd. The incident briefly disrupted the event as people in the affected area attempted to move away from the falling structure. The large gathering had already raised concerns over crowd management, with thousands of students and fans attending the event to see Yash and hear him speak about the upcoming film.
Yash appeared to notice the commotion from the stage and immediately stopped his speech to check what had happened. He asked the organisers about the condition of the people affected and urged students in the crowd to remain careful. He was heard asking whether everything was fine and requested the organisers to check on the students. The actor also noticed another group of students climbing onto a structure and asked them to come down, repeatedly urging them not to put themselves at risk.

After a few minutes, Yash again checked with the organisers about the situation and asked whether everyone in the affected area was safe. He resumed his speech only after receiving confirmation that the situation was under control. The injured students were reportedly transported to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. A young woman who was reportedly found unconscious was also among those affected, although further details about her condition were not immediately available. The incident shifted attention from the promotional programme to safety concerns at the packed venue.
The event had attracted a significant crowd, with reports indicating that police had earlier asked students and attendees to move back because of concerns about overcrowding and the possibility of a stampede. Despite those warnings, several attendees reportedly remained close to the stage and climbed onto structures around the venue. The collapse of the sound equipment highlighted the risks associated with overcrowded promotional events, particularly when attendees move onto temporary structures or equipment installations. The incident also prompted renewed focus on crowd control and safety arrangements at large celebrity events.
The incident took place during a major promotional programme for Toxic, which features Yash in the lead role alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the gangster action drama has music by Charan Raj and is scheduled to release on August 26. The film has received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. While the event was intended to build excitement ahead of the film's release, the collapse and injuries briefly overshadowed the programme, with Yash's decision to pause his speech and personally check on the crowd becoming a key moment of the evening.
