GemTunes Owner Offers Rs 1.1 Crore to Rajpal Yadav in Jail Term
Music producer offers Rs 1.1 crore to help Rajpal Yadav in cheque-bounce case.
Actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his comic roles, surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 in a decade-old Rs 9-crore cheque-bounce case. Following his surrender, several celebrities have stepped in to support him financially. Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav, owner of GemTunes Music, offered Rs 1.1 crore to help ease his burden. The gesture highlights solidarity within the film and entertainment industry. Social media users applauded the support extended to the actor-comedian.
Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav said his support was not about money but about standing with a fellow human being in need. He called the film industry a family where members help each other in difficult times. He also posted the offer on Instagram, urging others to assist Rajpal. Earlier, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Chaudhary, and Tej Pratap Yadav had also extended financial help. These gestures have generated widespread appreciation online.
Rajpal’s legal troubles began in 2010 when he borrowed Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed at the box office, causing major losses, and the borrowed amount, along with interest and penalties, rose to nearly Rs 9 crore. To settle the dues, Rajpal issued multiple cheques, which were later dishonoured. This led to criminal proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act. The case has been ongoing for over a decade.

On February 2, 2026, the Delhi High Court directed Rajpal to surrender to jail authorities by February 4. His counsel offered a demand draft of Rs 25 lakh and a fresh payment plan, but the court refused to recall the surrender order. The judge emphasised that compassion must be balanced with discipline. Rajpal surrendered on February 5 and began serving his six-month sentence at Tihar Jail. Standard jail procedures were followed during his intake.
Professionally, Rajpal Yadav was last seen in the films Baby John and Interrogation. He is set to appear next in Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla, releasing on April 10. Despite his legal and financial troubles, he continues to maintain his presence in the film industry. Celebrities supporting him reflect the sense of community within Bollywood. Fans continue to show encouragement and hope for his financial recovery.
