Kerala Film Industry in Grip of Drugs! Shocking Revelations by Drug Peddler
Malayalam actors Sreenath Bhasi and Shine Tom Chacko face charges again as a cartel kingpin is arrested
The ugly head of substance abuse by actors has reared its head once again in Mollywood.
The arrest of Tasleem Sultana, a key figure in Kerala's narcotics trade, has set off alarms in the Malayalam film industry. She has reportedly alleged that actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi were among her clients. The Kerala Excise Department has intensified its investigation, aiming to recover digital evidence linking Sultana to the actors.
Sultana was arrested in Alappuzha with hybrid ganja worth approximately Rs 2 crore. She, it is claimed, operated from Chennai and had connections with influential figures in the film industry. Both actors have denied the allegations, with Sreenath Bhasi calling them 'fabricated'.
Drug culture in Mollywood has been a topic of concern, with allegations and investigations revealing connections between the Malayalam film industry and narcotics. Actors like Shane Nigam, Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi are constantly linked to drug abuse. Even some producers had claimed trouble from these actors during shoots. Shine Tom Chacko had faced legal issues in the past, including a 2015 arrest for cocaine possession.
The Justice Hema Commission report had shed light on substance abuse in Mollywood, stating that drug and alcohol use is widespread on film sets, often justified as a means to boost creativity. Despite these revelations, investigations face challenges due to limited cooperation from film organisations. It’s a complex issue that raises questions about accountability and the influence of drug culture on the industry and its audience.
As the authorities continue the investigation, exploring Sultana's broader network and potential involvement in other illegal activities, there is fear that more names may emerge. It's a development that could have significant implications for the industry.
