Janhvi Kapoor Clarifies She Is Not Addicted To Alcohol After Podcast Misinterpretation
Janhvi Kapoor denies addiction, slams misinterpretation of remarks.
Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor has issued a clarification addressing reports that mischaracterised her comments about alcohol consumption as an admission of addiction. The statement comes after her remarks in a recent podcast were widely circulated and interpreted in a way that, according to her team, did not accurately reflect her experience.
The clarification was shared through a post by initiatives Off The Rocks and Amaha, with which Janhvi is associated. The statement expressed concern over how certain media outlets portrayed her comments, noting that such misrepresentation was “deeply concerning” and risked distorting the intent behind her participation in conversations around alcohol awareness.
The statement emphasised that Janhvi is involved in the initiative as a “caregiver and ally,” and not as someone who has personally experienced alcohol addiction or dependence. It added that inaccurate reporting not only diminishes her role but also disrespects individuals who are genuinely dealing with addiction and those supporting them. The message called on media platforms to approach such topics with greater sensitivity and responsibility.

The controversy stems from Janhvi's appearance on a podcast hosted by Raj Shamani, where she spoke about a period in her life following a traumatic experience during which she consumed alcohol more frequently. In the conversation, she clarified that she did not consider herself addicted but acknowledged that her drinking habits had increased temporarily during that phase.
Janhvi also reflected on how her perspective evolved over time, stating that she became more aware of the physical and emotional effects of alcohol consumption. She noted that she did not like how it made her feel, particularly the after-effects, which contributed to her reassessing those habits. The clarification aims to reinforce that her comments were about personal reflection and awareness, rather than an admission of substance dependence.
