Janaki vs State of Kerala’ Gets Censor Nod After Title Tweak — Set to Hit Theatres This Week!
Janaki vs State of Kerala cleared by censor board after title change set for release this week, producers tell Kerala High Court.
After a tense legal and censorship standoff, 'Janaki vs State of Kerala' (JSK) — the much-anticipated courtroom drama starring Union Minister Suresh Gopi — is finally cleared for release, the producers confirmed to the Kerala High Court on Wednesday.
The film’s makers, Cosmos Entertainments, informed the court that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted approval on July 11, following last-minute changes to the film’s title and content. The newly approved title, ‘JSK Janaki V. v/s State of Kerala’, along with muted or altered mentions of the name “Janaki” in select scenes, helped the film sail past the censors.
Justice N Nagaresh, noting the updated approval, said the core grievance in the producers’ petition had been addressed and disposed of the case. The court also clarified that any use of promotional materials bearing the film’s original title would not lead to legal consequences for the production house.

The censor board had earlier held up the release, demanding the name change, which the filmmakers had initially resisted, citing marketing challenges so close to release. But with the board refusing to budge, the team made the revisions — just in time.
Directed by Pravin Narayanan and also starring Anupama Parameswaran, the film explores a woman's harrowing fight for justice after facing assault, set against the backdrop of a compelling courtroom battle.
After weeks of suspense, JSK is finally ready to hit theatres — and it’s carrying more buzz than ever.
