Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘I’m Game’ Postponed To September For Pan-India Release

Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Malayalam film ‘I’m Game’ has been postponed from its scheduled August 20 Onam release and will now arrive in theatres on September 3. The actor announced the change through a social media post, explaining that the new release date is part of a broader plan to give the film a wider theatrical reach. The film is being positioned for audiences across India and overseas markets.

Dulquer said the film will now have a simultaneous theatrical release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. The decision is intended to expand the film’s scale and reach beyond the Malayalam market and provide audiences in different regions an opportunity to watch it on the big screen. The actor acknowledged the wait for fans while maintaining that the wider release would give the film a larger platform.

Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, ‘I’m Game’ marks Dulquer’s return to Malayalam cinema in a full-length lead role. His previous full-length Malayalam feature as a lead actor was the 2023 action thriller ‘King of Kotha’. The actor was also seen in a cameo appearance in the 2025 film ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’.

The film also features Antony Varghese and Mysskin in prominent roles. With the new release plan, the makers are aiming to present the film simultaneously across multiple language markets rather than limiting its initial theatrical run to Malayalam-speaking audiences. The September release is expected to give the film a broader national footprint.

The postponement also takes ‘I’m Game’ out of the competitive Onam release window, which is considered an important period for Malayalam cinema. Two other major films scheduled for the Onam season are Vysakh’s Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer ‘Khalifa’ and Girish AD’s Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju-starrer ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’.

The makers’ decision to shift the release date reflects an effort to build a wider theatrical launch for ‘I’m Game’. With its simultaneous release planned in five languages, the film will now target a broader audience when it reaches cinemas worldwide on September 3.
