Day or Night, Can Knock Any Door! Manju Warrier on Kerala Love
Manju Warrier's humility comes through once again in latest interview
National Award-winning actress Manju Warrier views stardom not as a wall but as a warm connection with the people of Kerala.
In an interview with IANS, she reflected on her unique bond with the state, saying, “I can knock on any door, day or night, and ask for a glass of water, and they’ll give it to me.” For her, fame is a source of happiness rather than a burden.
Warrier, who debuted in 1995 with “Sakshyam,” has appeared in over 50 films across three decades, earning accolades including a National Film Award and a Kerala State Film Award.
Her career took off with hits like “Sallapam” (1996) and “Aaraam Thampuran” (1997), but she stepped away after marrying actor Dileep in 1998. She returned triumphantly in 2014 with “How Old Are You?,” re-establishing herself as a leading figure in Malayalam cinema.
Now 46, Warrier remains a beloved icon in Kerala, a status she attributes to the genuine affection of its people. “I’m not a stranger to anyone here,” she told IANS, emphasizing the trust that lets her feel at home anywhere in the state.
Her latest ventures, like “L2: Empuraan,” which raked in Rs 22 crore on its opening day this week, show her enduring appeal. Beyond acting, her Kuchipudi dance performances and social work through her foundation further cement her place in Kerala’s heart.
