Yash's Toxic Receives 18+ Rating With High Violence Score in UK
Toxic receives higher BBFC ratings for violence, sex than Dhurandhar.
Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received an 18+ certification in the United Kingdom ahead of its August 26 theatrical release. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, received the highest possible content ratings for violence, sex and injury detail from the British Board of Film Classification. Its classification has drawn attention because it received higher ratings in several categories than the Dhurandhar films.
Toxic has been given a runtime of 191 minutes and 41 seconds in the UK. The classification lists violence, sex and injury detail at 5 out of 5, while threat and horror, language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, and suicide and self-harm received 4 out of 5. The classification also describes strong violent imagery, including shootings, stabbings, torture and other graphic scenes, along with depictions of serious injuries and blood.
The film also contains sexual and erotic scenes, including sequences set in strip clubs. The classification further mentions strong images involving corpses, severed body parts and bleeding wounds following violent incidents. Other content warnings include strong language, drug misuse and an upsetting sequence that implies child sexual abuse. These elements have contributed to the film receiving the strictest age classification in the UK.

Toxic had earlier been scheduled around the same period as Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, but its release plans changed amid concerns linked to the West Asia conflict. The Yash-led film is now set to arrive in cinemas on August 26. The film features Yash alongside Kiara Advani and Sara Arjun and is positioned as a dark action drama aimed at adult audiences.
The Dhurandhar films have also received 18+ classifications in the UK, but their content ratings differ from those assigned to Toxic. The first Dhurandhar received a 5 out of 5 rating for violence, while threat and horror, language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, and suicide and self-harm were rated 4 out of 5. Its sex rating was 2 out of 5, while discrimination received 3 out of 5.
Dhurandhar 2, released in March, also received a 5 out of 5 violence rating and 4 out of 5 ratings for threat and horror, language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, and injury detail. Its sex rating was 3 out of 5 and discrimination was rated 2 out of 5. With Toxic scoring 5 out of 5 for violence, sex and injury, its UK certification indicates a particularly intense content profile ahead of its August release.
