Yash Reveals He Became ‘Bodyguard’ For Pregnant Kiara Advani During 'Toxic' Shoot

Yash has praised Kiara Advani’s professionalism and commitment to Toxic, revealing that he and director Geetu Mohandas took extra care of the actor while she was pregnant during the film’s production. Speaking at the film’s audio launch in Mumbai on Thursday, Yash described Kiara as a highly dedicated performer and recalled being concerned about the demanding nature of the project. He credited her for maintaining her commitment to the film despite the challenges.

Yash recalled that his initial conversations with Kiara included discussions about demanding sequences, including filming in the rain. He later realised the extent of her dedication to the project and said her commitment remained strong even after she became pregnant. Yash added that he and Mohandas effectively acted as “bouncers” and “bodyguards” on the set, taking additional precautions to ensure Kiara was looked after while filming.

The actor’s comments come after Kiara faced criticism on social media following the release of Tabahi, a song from Toxic featuring her and Yash. Some online reactions focused on the intimate portions of the song, leading to considerable criticism directed at the actor. However, the response changed after the release of the film’s trailer, with several viewers praising Kiara’s performance and her role in the upcoming action drama.

Yash had also defended Kiara at the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru last week, where he spoke about the criticism actors can face for their creative choices. He maintained that performers should follow what they believe in and allow audiences to judge their work. His latest comments at the audio launch further underline his appreciation for Kiara’s contribution to the film and her commitment during its production.

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is directed by Geetu Mohandas and stars Yash in a dual role alongside Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Nayanthara. The film is a gangster drama centred on a troubled father-son relationship, with its trailer hinting at action and conflict while keeping much of the storyline undisclosed. It marks Yash’s return to the big screen after KGF Chapter 2.

Shot simultaneously in English and Kannada, Toxic will also be released in dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The film is backed by Yash’s Monster Mind Creations and Venkat K. Narayana’s KVN Productions and is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 26. The project is expected to combine action, thriller elements and a larger-than-life narrative across multiple Indian-language markets.
