'Toxic' Actor Speaks On Yash’s Film Teaser Criticism And Public Reaction
Actor reacts to criticism surrounding Yash’s upcoming film teaser.
Actor Benedict Garrett, who plays a supporting role in Yash’s upcoming action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, has responded to the online criticism surrounding the film’s latest teaser, Ladies & Ladies. The teaser sparked debate on social media after some viewers questioned the portrayal of female characters and the adult themes shown in the promotional video.
During an Instagram “Ask Me Anything” session, a user asked Garrett why people were criticising the Toxic teaser. Responding to the question, the actor said he was unaware of the backlash and suggested that some viewers may react more strongly to sexual themes than to violence in films. He expressed his personal opinion that he would prefer seeing sensual content over violence in cinema.
The Ladies & Ladies teaser introduces several female characters played by Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. While the promotional video was designed to highlight the women in the film, some social media users raised concerns over the way the characters were presented. The teaser combines elements of romance, action, and mature themes, reflecting the film’s adult-oriented tone.

The video features Yash in a dominant role, along with action sequences, glamorous visuals, and scenes suggesting a darker narrative. A voiceover in the teaser discusses themes of love, deception, and relationships, while the final moments include a violent scene involving a firearm that further reinforced the film’s mature classification.
Toxic has also faced changes in its release schedule. The film’s release date has been postponed multiple times, with the makers earlier announcing that the timeline was being adjusted to align with global distribution plans. The movie is now scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 26, with versions planned in Kannada and English along with dubbed releases in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. The film has generated significant attention due to its star cast, action-driven storyline, and its bold promotional material, with discussions continuing around its treatment of mature themes and character portrayals.
