The Raja Saab Day 1 Box Office: Prabhas Film Targets Rs 15-20 Crore Opening
Prabhas's The Raja Saab eyes Rs 15-20 crore India opening on Day 1.
Prabhas’s much-anticipated film The Raja Saab hit theatres on January 9 and is eyeing a promising opening at the box office. The pan-Indian release has benefited from reduced competition following the postponement of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, allowing the film to dominate screens across major domestic and overseas markets.
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’s first full-fledged venture into the romantic horror-comedy genre. The film has been released in five languages—Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—ensuring wide reach and strong initial footfalls, particularly in the southern states.
According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected approximately Rs 6.95 crore from morning shows on its opening day in India. Trade analysts project that The Raja Saab could wrap up Day 1 with domestic collections in the range of Rs 15–20 crore, depending on evening and night show occupancies.

On the global front, the film has already shown strong momentum. The Raja Saab crossed the Rs 50 crore mark worldwide through advance bookings alone. If walk-in audiences remain consistent, the worldwide opening day figures are expected to be impressive, reinforcing Prabhas’s continued pull at the box office.
Audience response on social media has been mixed, with praise for the film’s visuals, background score, and Prabhas’s performance in a refreshing role. However, some viewers have pointed out issues with pacing and storytelling. Despite this, trade experts believe the actor’s star power and the genre’s mass appeal could ensure steady collections over the opening weekend.
The film follows the story of a young man attempting to reclaim his ancestral property—an abandoned cinema theatre named Raja Deluxe—only to encounter eerie paranormal events and hidden family secrets. The Raja Saab also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab, with cinematography by Karthik Palani and music composed by Thaman S.
