Nora Fatehi Defends Herself As Influencers Criticise Her Over Controversial Song
Nora Fatehi questions influencers’ motives amid the ongoing song controversy.
Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi has spoken about the controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from the Kannada film “KD: The Devil”, saying she was prepared for the backlash and questioning the motives of influencers who criticised her. Speaking on the Dream with Dr Sheen podcast, Nora alleged that some people were using the controversy as an opportunity and said she was aware of how such online narratives could develop. The song had faced objections over its lyrics and visuals.
Nora recalled that she had shot the song around three years ago in Kannada and was unaware of how it would later be adapted for a Hindi version. She explained that she does not understand Kannada and therefore relied on the information provided to her while filming. According to her, the Hindi lyrics and adaptation were created without her knowledge or approval. She also clarified that she had not performed specifically for the Hindi version of the track.
The actor said she became concerned after seeing the Kannada version during its launch, particularly because of photographs used in the lyrical video and an AI-generated image featuring her and Sanjay Dutt. Nora said she raised her concerns with the filmmakers and later distanced herself from the project. She also stated that she did not promote the Hindi version and had warned the director that the controversy could affect her image and reputation.

Nora has previously addressed the backlash in a detailed video message, maintaining that she did not endorse the Hindi version. She argued that artists can have limited control over how their work and images are subsequently used and called for greater accountability from filmmakers and producers. She also urged audiences not to continue sharing the controversial song, saying that doing so could give it additional attention. According to her, the filmmakers eventually removed the content following the backlash.
The controversy also involves a complaint alleging that the song contains vulgar, sexually suggestive and obscene expressions, along with provocative visual and dance sequences. The complainant has raised concerns about the song being accessible online, including to minors, and alleged that certain lyrics and visuals could affect public decency. The complaint has named lyricist Raqeeb Alam, director Prem, composer Arjun Janya and singer Mangli, and has referred to provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Information Technology Act.
“Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” features music by Arjun Janya, lyrics by Raqeeb Alam and vocals by Mangli. The song is associated with “KD: The Devil”, a Kannada-language action crime film directed by Prem and featuring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty and Reeshma Nanaiah. Set in the 1970s, the film follows a criminal who becomes involved in the underworld and is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 30, 2026.
