Frustration erupted among fans of actor Suriya in Puducherry after multiple screenings of the film Karuppu were cancelled at the last minute, leading to protests outside a local theatre over the release delay. The unexpected cancellation affected both morning and afternoon shows, leaving fans disappointed despite elaborate preparations to celebrate the film’s release.Large groups of fans had gathered at theatres wearing custom-made Karuppu T-shirts, carrying crackers, confetti, dhols, and garlands to mark what they expected to be a festive first-day-first-show experience.
Some even brought milk to perform traditional celebratory rituals on Suriya’s posters, reflecting the high anticipation surrounding the film, which also stars Trisha Krishnan and is directed by RJ Balaji.However, the celebrations quickly turned into confusion and disappointment when attendees were informed that the scheduled screenings had been cancelled.
