Drishyam 3 Records Strong Day 1 Box Office Opening With Packed Theatres
Drishyam 3 opens strong on Day 1 with packed theatres and solid box office response.
Mohanlal’s much-awaited crime thriller “Drishyam 3”, directed by Jeethu Joseph, opened to strong audience response across India, with particularly robust turnout in Kerala, where the franchise has historically enjoyed a dominant fan base. The film reportedly collected around Rs 2.8 crore net in India on its opening day, according to early live estimates, with a gross collection of approximately Rs 3.3 crore.
It was screened across 2,326 shows nationwide, registering an overall occupancy of 44.3 per cent on Day 1, indicating healthy initial interest for the latest instalment in the popular thriller franchise. The Malayalam 2D version led the performance across all formats, recording a strong 61 per cent occupancy and contributing the majority of the film’s revenue.
In contrast, dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada saw comparatively lower turnout, though select regions in each market showed moderate engagement depending on show timings and local audience interest. Regionally, Kerala emerged as the film’s strongest market by a wide margin. Cities such as Kochi, Kottayam, Kozhikode, and Kollam reported exceptionally high occupancy levels, with Kochi reaching as high as 93 per cent across multiple shows.

Other centres like Thrissur, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram also delivered strong turnout, reinforcing the franchise’s deep regional appeal. Outside Kerala, performance remained mixed. Cities such as Chennai and Bengaluru recorded moderate occupancy for Tamil and Malayalam versions, while major metropolitan regions like Mumbai and the National Capital Region (NCR) saw relatively weaker turnout, reflecting the film’s stronger regional pull compared to pan-India penetration.
“Drishyam 3” continues the story of Georgekutty, portrayed by Mohanlal, as his carefully guarded past resurfaces, once again threatening the stability of his family. The film also features Siddique, Asha Sharath, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, and Meenakshi, with a runtime of 2 hours and 39 minutes and a U/A certification. Early trade indicators suggest that while the film has opened solidly, its long-term box office performance will depend heavily on weekday retention and word-of-mouth momentum.
