Minneapolis Shooter’s Guns Scrawled with ‘Nuke India', ‘Kill Trump’

Disturbing messages on weapons spark outrage after school tragedy.

23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday, killing two children, aged 8 and 10, and injuring 17 others during a morning Mass. The shooter, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, left behind a trail of disturbing evidence, including videos showcasing an arsenal with hateful messages like “Nuke India,” “Kill Donald Trump,” and “Israel Must Fall” scrawled on his weapons.

Authorities confirmed Westman, a former student at the school, acted alone and legally purchased the rifle, shotgun, and pistol used in the attack. Videos posted on a now-deleted YouTube channel, “Robin W,” revealed firearms and journals with extremist writings, some in Cyrillic, expressing admiration for past mass shooters like Sandy Hook’s Adam Lanza. One journal entry chillingly read, “I have a deep fascination with one man in particular: Adam Lanza.”

The phrase “Nuke India,” written prominently on one gun, alongside “Mashallah” and anti-Semitic slogans, has drawn sharp attention. Journalist Laura Loomer, in a post on X, claimed the shooter was influenced by “anti-Indian and anti-Jewish Islamic propaganda,” pointing to Minnesota’s 5th district, represented by Democrat Ilhan Omar, as a breeding ground for such ideologies. These claims remain unverified by police, who are investigating the incident as a domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the attack as a “deliberate act of violence against innocent children,” noting Westman fired dozens of rounds through the church’s stained-glass windows. The shooter’s manifesto, detailed in videos, included a hand-drawn sketch of the church and expressed a fixation on targeting “powerless children.” Westman’s mother, Mary Grace Westman, was a former administrative assistant at the school until 2021, adding a personal dimension to the tragedy.

The attack has reignited debates over gun violence, mental health, and ideological extremism. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey urged the public not to use the shooter’s transgender identity—Westman changed their name from Robert to Robin in 2020—to stigmatize the trans community. President Donald Trump ordered U.S. flags at half-staff in mourning, as the FBI continues to probe the shooter’s motives and online activities.
