CJP Abhijeet Dipke Clarifies US Education Funding After RTI Complaint Raises Questions

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has said that his education in the United States was financed through a scholarship from Boston University and an education loan, amid questions raised by an RTI activist regarding his family’s financial background. Dipke rejected allegations that his overseas studies were funded through unexplained family wealth and said he was repaying the loan taken for his education. The clarification came a day after Surat-based RTI activist Amit Tiwari submitted complaints to multiple authorities, including the Maharashtra government, seeking an investigation into the finances of Dipke’s family.

Tiwari raised questions about how the education expenses of Dipke and his siblings in the United States were managed, citing the reported income of Dipke’s father, Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired junior engineer with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). In an interview with a senior journalist on a YouTube channel, Dipke said he received financial assistance through a scholarship from Boston University and supplemented it with an education loan. He dismissed suggestions that his studies abroad were supported by family wealth and said the loan repayment process was ongoing.

Dipke also spoke about the future funding model of the CJP, saying the organisation intends to rely on crowdfunding for its activities. He said the group would maintain transparency while accepting public contributions and ensure that details related to funding are available for scrutiny. The CJP founder’s comments come at a time when the organisation’s finances have faced increased public attention following its involvement in protests against alleged NEET paper leaks. Dipke claimed that the agitation was largely supported by ordinary citizens, who contributed essential supplies such as food and water to protesters.

He also alleged that some Delhi Police personnel privately supported the movement because their children were preparing for the NEET examination. However, these claims have not been independently verified. The issue gained further attention after senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal announced a Rs 1 crore legal aid fund for protesters who were arrested during the anti-NEET paper leak agitation. The announcement prompted additional questions regarding the legal structure, funding sources and tax implications of financial assistance being provided to protesters.

Apart from seeking an inquiry into Dipke’s family finances, RTI activist Tiwari has also approached the Election Commission of India, questioning the legal status of the Cockroach Janta Party. He has sought scrutiny of the legal defence fund announced by Sibal and has written to Central GST authorities seeking clarification on possible tax-related issues connected with the pledged assistance. Responding to the complaints, CJP spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur accused the RTI activist of selectively targeting Abhijeet Dipke and described the allegations as politically motivated.

She defended the organisation and questioned the intent behind raising concerns about Dipke’s personal educational funding. The controversy has brought renewed focus on transparency, political movements and public funding mechanisms. While Dipke has maintained that his education and the CJP’s activities have legitimate financial backing, authorities will decide whether any further examination of the complaints is required based on the submissions and available information.
