440 Students Sit Their Exams Under CCTV as Odisha Puts Fairness First This Board Season
Odisha's Education Minister Nityananda Gond reviewed security arrangements at Bhubaneswar's Class 10 board exam centres.
Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond on Thursday conducted an on-ground inspection of matriculation examination centres in the state capital, reviewing preparedness and security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the ongoing Class 10 board exams.
During his visit, Gond inspected the Government High School Unit 1 centre in Bhubaneswar, where a total of 440 students are appearing for the examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Odisha. Officials accompanying the minister briefed him on seating plans, invigilation deployment, and monitoring mechanisms put in place at the centre.
Speaking to reporters, Gond emphasised that strict measures have been implemented to maintain the integrity of the examination process. He noted that CCTV cameras have been installed in all classrooms and sensitive areas, while the entry of mobile phones and other electronic devices inside examination halls has been completely prohibited. Authorities have also been instructed to remain vigilant to prevent any unfair practices.

The minister said the purpose of his visit was to personally assess ground-level preparedness and address any logistical or administrative concerns that could affect students. He added that the government is committed to providing a fair, transparent, and stress-free examination environment for all candidates appearing across the state.
The Odisha matriculation (Class 10) examinations for 2026 officially commenced on February 19 and are scheduled to conclude on March 2. Lakhs of students are participating in the statewide examination process this year, making it one of the largest academic exercises conducted by the state education system.
Earlier this week, Gond had stated that comprehensive preparations were completed in advance, including enhanced surveillance and technological safeguards. Question papers have been embedded with QR codes and watermarks to prevent leaks and malpractice, officials said, as the state government aims to ensure the exams are conducted peacefully and without disruption.
