Wicked Co-Stars Reunite: Ariana Grande & Jonathan Bailey to Star in 'Sunday in the Park with George'
Wicked favorites Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey team up again for a major stage revival.
Fans of the blockbuster Wicked films are in for a thrilling reunion! Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey, who captivated audiences as Glinda and Fiyero, have officially confirmed they will star together in a new West End revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George. The announcement came on January 14, 2026, after weeks of buzzing rumors, with the pair teasing the news via a joint Instagram post featuring them in front of Georges Seurat’s iconic painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte—the very inspiration for the show.
The production marks Ariana Grande’s highly anticipated London stage debut and will take place at the prestigious Barbican Centre in summer 2027. Directed by acclaimed visionary Marianne Elliott, the revival promises a fresh take on the beloved 1984 musical that explores themes of art, obsession, love, and legacy through the life of pointillist painter Georges Seurat (played by Bailey as George) and his muse Dot (portrayed by Grande). The story spans from 1880s Paris to a modern-day reflection on creativity, blending Sondheim’s intricate score with poignant storytelling.
This collaboration builds on the massive success of the Wicked movies, where Grande and Bailey’s on-screen chemistry won over millions. Their return to the stage—especially in such a sophisticated, Tony-winning (and Pulitzer-honored) work—has theater enthusiasts excited. Tickets are set to go on sale in May 2026, with advance sign-ups already available through the Barbican.
