Salman Khan's New Bandra Residence Gets MCZMA Clearance; Development Progresses

MCZMA approval accelerates Salman Khan's new coastal residence development plans.

Salman Khan's family has received approval for a new residential redevelopment project in Mumbai's Bandra, fuelling speculation that the actor may eventually move out of his long-time residence at Galaxy Apartments. However, neither Salman Khan nor any member of his family has confirmed plans to shift from the iconic home where they have lived since 1974. The newly approved project is located in the Chimbai area of Bandra, a short distance from Galaxy Apartments, and has recently cleared an important regulatory milestone.

The land for the proposed residence is registered in the name of Salman Khan's mother, Salma Khan. The site previously housed a two-storey bungalow that had existed since before 1956 but was later demolished after it was declared structurally unsafe. On June 16, the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) granted clearance for the redevelopment, allowing the project to move to the next stage. Earlier, in October 2025, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had also issued the project's Intimation of Disapproval (IOD), a key preliminary approval required before construction begins.

According to the approved development plan, the project will consist of a ground floor, stilt parking and six upper floors, with a total built-up area of approximately 1,014 square metres. The redevelopment will be carried out by Sach Developers. While the required approvals have been secured, construction activities will proceed only after complying with all applicable regulations and obtaining any remaining permissions required under local laws.

The environmental clearance issued for the project includes several conditions aimed at protecting the surrounding ecosystem. Authorities have directed that no existing trees be cut during construction, and native plant species must be introduced as part of the landscaping around the property. These measures are intended to minimise the environmental impact of the redevelopment while ensuring compliance with coastal zone regulations governing the area.

The project has also drawn attention because it comes more than two years after the firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments, allegedly involving members of the Bishnoi gang. Following that incident, Salman Khan's security arrangements were significantly strengthened, and the actor currently remains under Y+ security cover. The proposed residence, situated on a quieter stretch near the sea, is expected to provide greater privacy and improved security compared to Galaxy Apartments, which is located on a busy road.

Although the latest approvals have intensified speculation about the Khan family's future residential plans, no official statement has suggested that Salman Khan will leave Galaxy Apartments. The regulatory clearances simply enable the redevelopment project to move forward, while the timeline for construction and eventual occupation remains uncertain. Attention will now remain focused on the progress of the project and whether the Khan family chooses to make the new property their future home.
