Salman Khan Summoned to Court in Person for Pan Masala Ad Dispute: Signature Under Forensic Scrutiny
Salman Khan summoned to Kota court for signature forensic test in pan masala ad case.
The Kota District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has ordered a forensic examination of Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s signature in connection with a case involving an alleged misleading pan masala advertisement. The court has also directed the actor to appear in person on January 20 along with relevant documents.
The order followed objections raised by the complainant, BJP leader and advocate Indramohan Singh Honey, who questioned the authenticity of Salman Khan’s signature on the power of attorney and reply submitted before the court. He alleged noticeable discrepancies between the signatures on record and those made by the actor in previous legal proceedings.
Accepting the plea, the consumer court directed that the signature be examined by a state-authorised forensic agency or a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The order was passed under provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the Indian Evidence Act, granting the court authority to seek expert verification.

The court further instructed that Salman Khan must appear personally on the next hearing date along with advocate R.C. Choubey, who had notarised the documents submitted on the actor’s behalf. The complainant claimed the signatures differed from those recorded during Salman Khan’s time in Jodhpur jail and earlier court appearances.
The petition, filed against Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala Company, alleges misleading advertising related to claims of “saffron-infused cardamom.” The complainant argued that such claims deceive consumers, particularly young people, and pose health risks.
Salman Khan has denied all allegations, calling the complaint baseless and legally untenable. His legal team maintained that the advertisement promotes silver-coated cardamom and not saffron-infused pan masala, asserting that regulatory authority lies with the Central Consumer Protection Authority. The matter will be reviewed further during the January 20 hearing.
