Salman Khan And Ajay Devgn Extend Financial Help To Rajpal Yadav In Debt Case

Rajpal Yadav's manager reveals Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and others offering financial aid.

Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended financial support to veteran comedian Rajpal Yadav amid his ongoing Rs 9-crore cheque bounce case, as confirmed by the actor's manager Goldie. Rajpal Yadav, known for films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, surrendered to Tihar Jail authorities earlier this month after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for more time to repay the dues. The case stems from a decade-old loan of Rs 5 crore taken in 2010 for his directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata, which failed commercially, leading to bounced cheques and legal proceedings that ballooned the amount to nearly Rs 9 crore with interest and penalties.

Rajpal Yadav's manager Goldie shared in interviews with outlets like Screen and others that several industry figures have reached out during this difficult period. Alongside Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn, support has come from actors such as Sonu Sood—who was among the first to help by offering a film role and advance payment—Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and filmmaker David Dhawan. Goldie emphasized that the assistance includes financial contributions, with the fraternity showing solidarity to help Yadav clear the debt. A Delhi entrepreneur and music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh also reportedly provided significant aid, including Rs 1.1 crore in one instance.

The development highlights the strong sense of community within Bollywood, where actors often step in to assist colleagues facing financial or legal hardships. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged its members to rally behind Yadav, while his family has expressed gratitude for the widespread support. Yadav's wife Radha noted that the industry has stood by him, and his manager indicated optimism about his potential release soon, pending the outcome of ongoing bail hearings. The Delhi High Court has been hearing the matter, with Yadav previously granted temporary relief in 2024 before the recent directive to surrender.

This case underscores recurring challenges for some actors involving film financing failures and cheque dishonour disputes under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. Despite Yadav's emotional statement upon surrender—expressing a sense of isolation—the response from peers demonstrates that support networks remain active in the industry. As contributions continue to come in, the focus remains on resolving the financial obligation to secure Yadav's release and rehabilitation. The actor's legal team is actively pursuing bail, with the next hearing expected to consider the efforts made toward repayment.
