Rashmika Mandanna Takes Strong Legal Stand Against Circulation of Private Audio

A private audio clip involving Rashmika Mandanna’s mother, Suman Mandanna, discussing the actress’s past engagement to actor Rakshit Shetty, has resurfaced on social media weeks after Rashmika’s wedding to Vijay Deverakonda on February 26. The clip, reportedly from an interview given eight years ago to a Kannada news channel, has prompted the actress to issue a warning of legal action against those circulating it.
The resurfaced audio reportedly details tensions during Rashmika and Shetty’s engagement in 2017, which ended in 2018 by mutual consent. In the clip, Suman Mandanna recalls disagreements between the families, allegations of Shetty attempting to control Rashmika’s professional choices, and pressure for her to publicly announce quitting acting after marriage. One incident mentioned involves a late-night call demanding Rashmika travel from Hyderabad to Bengaluru ahead of the film Geetha Govindam’s release.
Reacting to the widespread circulation, Rashmika described the clip as an “old private conversation” being taken out of context to create controversy. In a detailed statement on X, she said the dissemination of the audio constitutes a serious invasion of privacy and defamation, noting that it coincides strategically with recent developments in her personal life.

Rashmika emphasised that the content has drawn her family and unrelated individuals into discomfort and warned media platforms, influencers, and individuals to remove the material within 24 hours. She stated that failure to comply would result in legal action, including notices under applicable law for defamation and privacy violations.
The actress also reflected on her eight-year experience of enduring online harassment, misinformation, and false narratives, saying she had previously chosen silence but could no longer allow her family and associates to be affected. She urged the public and media to respect privacy and refrain from sharing the clip further.
Rashmika’s response underscores the challenges celebrities face with the circulation of private material and social media speculation, and highlights her determination to protect personal boundaries and privacy through legal means.
