Priyanka Chopra emotional at Harvard seeing proud Desi students.
Priyanka Chopra delivered an emotional keynote at Harvard Business School’s India Week, sharing her vision of “The India We Imagine” and celebrating the achievements of Indian students and allies. The session, moderated by her business partner Anjula Acharia, highlighted representation, identity, and the transformative power of community.
Priyanka recounted her own teenage experience in the US, noting the lack of Indian representation when she arrived in high school in the 1990s. “The audience was packed… and we were Desi… and Desi allies! It made me want to cry,” she said, emphasizing the pride she felt seeing a vibrant Indian community at one of the world’s top business schools.
Speaking on stage, Priyanka described how the moment represented not just survival, but thriving. “Your conviction in yourself and being proud of where you come from… this is the India I imagine,” she told students, highlighting how cultural identity and confidence can empower the next generation of leaders.

Anjula Acharia encouraged students to trust their instincts, citing founders who disrupted industries without prior experience. Priyanka added, “Shame is a word that does not exist in my home. I want you to stand on the shoulders of amazing artists and talent that came before me.”
Priyanka concluded her remarks by thanking her family, including husband Nick Jonas and daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, for supporting her presence at the event. Her heartfelt reflection underscored the importance of representation, community, and mentorship for young Indians pursuing global opportunities.
On the professional front, Priyanka will appear in The Bluff, produced by the Russo Brothers and Amazon MGM Studios, and make her Indian cinema comeback with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, co-starring Mahesh Babu.
