Massive Fire Erupts At Lucknow Cold Storage Unit, Firefighters Rush To Control Blaze

Fire breaks out at Lucknow cold storage unit.

A massive fire broke out at the Himalayan Cold Storage facility in the Chinhat area of Lucknow on Sunday, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation by emergency services. Authorities said fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot after reports of thick smoke and flames emerging from the facility, as efforts continued to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.

According to officials, the fire was first noticed by a security guard stationed at the cold storage unit, who alerted the facility’s owner upon spotting smoke rising from the premises. The owner then contacted the emergency helpline, following which police and fire department teams were dispatched to the site. Emergency responders reached the location shortly after and began coordinated efforts to contain the fire, which had already engulfed parts of the storage facility by the time they arrived.

Firefighting operations remained underway as teams worked to douse the flames and prevent further escalation. Officials deployed multiple fire tenders to the site, with personnel focusing on controlling the intensity of the blaze and ensuring that surrounding areas were secured. Authorities also monitored the situation closely to assess any risk of structural collapse or hazardous spread due to the nature of stored materials inside the facility.

Speaking to ANI, a local resident said the exact cause of the fire was not yet known. He added that the facility typically stores a variety of goods, including potatoes, green chillies and lentils, suggesting that a large quantity of perishable items may have been affected in the incident.

Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire, and an investigation is expected to be launched once the situation is brought fully under control. Fire department personnel continue to remain at the site to ensure complete extinguishing of the blaze and to prevent any possibility of re-ignition. Further details regarding damages and potential casualties, if any, are awaited as emergency operations continue.
