Emraan Hashmi Says He Was Never Approached For Mehmood Role In RD Burman Biopic

Emraan Hashmi has denied reports that he will portray veteran actor and comedian Mehmood in an upcoming biopic on legendary music composer R D Burman. Hashmi took to X, formerly Twitter, to clarify that he has not been approached for the project and will not be playing any role in the film. His statement came hours after reports circulated claiming that the actor had been selected to portray Mehmood in the much-anticipated project. “Just to clarify, the reports about me playing Mehmood saab in a biopic are untrue. I haven’t been approached for the film, nor am I doing it,” Hashmi wrote on X. The actor’s clarification directly rejected the casting reports and ended speculation about his involvement. The reports had attracted attention because Mehmood shared a close friendship and creative association with R D Burman, making the role an important part of the film’s reported storyline.

Earlier reports had suggested that Hashmi would play Mehmood in the R D Burman biopic.
