Lagaan cast and Bollywood stars reunite for 25th anniversary celebration.
A special reunion event marking the 25th anniversary of the iconic film Lagaan brought together some of Bollywood’s biggest stars in Mumbai on Saturday evening. The celebration honoured the legacy of the Oscar-nominated 2001 sports drama directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and led by Aamir Khan, which remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated films.
The event saw the presence of several high-profile guests from the film industry, including Salman Khan, who drew attention with his rugged, casual look. According to attendees, Aamir warmly greeted Salman upon arrival, with the two actors sharing a hug and posing for photographs, drawing nostalgic reactions from fans given their previous collaboration in Andaz Apna Apna.
Actor Kareena Kapoor also attended the celebration, arriving in an elegant traditional outfit. Her appearance, along with other celebrities at the event, added to the star-studded atmosphere as Bollywood personalities gathered to pay tribute to the film’s enduring cultural impact.

The reunion was attended by several members of the original Lagaan cast, including Rajendranath Zutshi, Yashpal Sharma, Aditya Lakhia and Akhilendra Mishra, along with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and director Ashutosh Gowariker. Other prominent names from the industry, including Zoya Akhtar, Kajol, Vir Das, Sunil Grover, Juhi Chawla and Sophie Choudry, were also present at the Mumbai gathering.
Family members of Aamir were in attendance as well, including his son Junaid Khan, his ex-wives Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta, and their respective children. Aamir’s sisters Nikhat Khan and Farhat Khan also joined the celebrations, making the event a blend of industry reunion and personal family gathering.
Released in 2001, Lagaan remains a landmark film in Indian cinema history. The period sports drama, set during the British colonial era, received widespread critical acclaim and went on to become only the third Indian film ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, cementing its status as a defining moment in Bollywood storytelling.
