Jr NTR Honours N.T. Rama Rao On 103rd Birth Anniversary In Hyderabad

Jr NTR honoured legendary actor-politician N.T. Rama Rao in Hyderabad ceremony.

Actor Jr NTR on Thursday paid tribute to his grandfather, legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), on his 103rd birth anniversary at the NTR Ghat in Hyderabad. Several members of the Nandamuri family, political leaders and admirers also gathered at the memorial to remember one of the most influential figures in Telugu cinema and regional politics.

Late NTR’s wife Lakshmi Parvathi and daughter Daggubati Purandeswari offered floral tributes at the memorial and spoke about his enduring legacy among Telugu-speaking people across the world. Lakshmi Parvathi said NTR continues to live in the hearts of millions through his contributions to society and public welfare, adding that many people commemorate his birth anniversary through social service activities such as food distribution and blood donation drives.

She also thanked Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for installing a statue honouring the late leader and said NTR remained synonymous with Telugu identity, pride and culture. “Whenever I think of Telugu soil, Telugu people and Telugu pride, the first name that comes to my mind is NTR,” she said while addressing the media at the memorial site.

Daggubati Purandeswari described NTR as an immortal figure in the lives of Telugu people and said his influence extended far beyond politics and cinema. She stated that lakhs of people continue to celebrate his birth anniversary as though he remains a member of their own family. Actor and grandson Nandamuri Chaitanya Krishna also visited the memorial to pay his respects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also remembered the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on his birth anniversary and praised his contribution to governance and cinema. In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said NTR was remembered for his commitment to public welfare, dignity for the poor and contributions to Indian cinema that continue to inspire generations. He also said the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu remains committed to fulfilling the ideals associated with NTR’s vision.

Born on May 28, 1923, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao remains one of the most iconic personalities in Telugu history. Widely celebrated for portraying mythological and historical characters in cinema, he later entered politics and founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He went on to serve multiple terms as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and is widely credited with reshaping regional politics in the state.
