BTS Returns With Oldboy-Inspired Music Video For 2.0 From Chart-Topping Album ARIRANG

BTS drops Oldboy-inspired music video for 2.0 from Billboard-topping comeback album ARIRANG.

Global K-pop sensation BTS has dropped the music video for their track 2.0, marking another major step in their comeback after a four-year hiatus. The release comes as part of their latest album ARIRANG, continuing the group’s steady rollout of new content that has reignited excitement among fans worldwide.

The music video draws strong inspiration from Oldboy, directed by Park Chan-wook. It opens with members RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook stepping out of an elevator into a dimly lit corridor, dressed in sleek suits and leather jackets. The gritty, suspenseful setting mirrors the iconic tone of the film, setting up a dramatic visual narrative.

As the scene unfolds, the group encounters a line of men in the hallway, evoking the famous corridor sequence from Oldboy. However, instead of engaging in a fight, BTS transforms the tension into a choreographed performance, blending sharp dance moves with cinematic storytelling. The sequence highlights the group’s signature ability to merge music with visual artistry.

The video then transitions through multiple dark settings, including another narrow hallway and a worn-down bathroom, where the members perform in front of mirrors during the chorus. The shifting environments maintain a moody aesthetic, reinforcing the concept teased earlier while keeping the performance visually dynamic and immersive.

Toward the conclusion, the narrative circles back to the elevator, where the members reappear in updated, modern outfits. The transition aligns with the lyric “We on that brand new,” symbolising evolution and reinvention. The video ends in a polished high-rise setting, contrasting the earlier gritty visuals and underscoring the theme of transformation.

2.0 is one of the B-sides from ARIRANG, which has achieved significant global success. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while its lead single SWIM topped the Billboard Hot 100. Produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and Pluss, the track also features writing credits from several BTS members, further showcasing their creative involvement in shaping the project.
