Anupama Parameswaran Calls Ex ‘Anniyan’, Reveals Restrictions On 'Dragon' Promotions

Actor Anupama Parameswaran has spoken about a past relationship in which she says she experienced controlling behaviour and what she described as narcissistic abuse over a period of two years. Her comments came after she sparked breakup speculation through social media posts about a controlling relationship. Although Anupama has been linked by reports to actor Dhruv Vikram, with whom she worked on Bison Kaalamaadan, she has not publicly confirmed that he was the former partner she referred to.

Speaking on Dhanya Varma’s YouTube channel, Anupama discussed the relationship in detail and described her former partner as narcissistic. She said the experience involved restrictions on several aspects of her personal and professional life. Her comments offered more insight into the circumstances behind her earlier social media posts, which had prompted speculation among fans about the nature of her relationship and the reasons for its end.

Anupama said her former partner attempted to control how she presented herself publicly, including what she wore. She recalled being told to dress more conservatively and described the restrictions as part of a broader pattern of controlling behaviour. The actor also spoke about the impact such restrictions had on her independence and ability to make decisions about her own appearance and professional commitments.

She further alleged that the relationship affected her professional activities. According to Anupama, her former partner did not allow her to promote Dragon, the Tamil film in which she appeared. She compared aspects of his behaviour to the character portrayed in the Tamil psychological thriller Anniyan, using the reference to explain what she perceived as an extreme or troubling personality within the relationship.

The actor's remarks came after she returned to Instagram following a period away from the platform and posted captions that were interpreted as references to a controlling relationship. Those posts led to speculation about her personal life, particularly amid reports linking her to Dhruv Vikram. Anupama, however, has not identified the person she discussed in the interview, and the allegations she made were about a former partner without publicly naming him.

Anupama's account has since drawn attention because she described the relationship as having affected both her personal freedom and professional choices. Her comments also highlighted the difficulties she said she faced while attempting to maintain independence within the relationship. While she has confirmed that she experienced what she characterised as narcissistic abuse, she has not publicly confirmed the identity of the former boyfriend discussed in the interview.
