Yami Gautam Announces 'Nayyi Navelli', Husband Aditya Dhar Reacts on Instagram

Actor Yami Gautam has announced her new film Nayyi Navelli, prompting a playful exchange with her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, on social media. Sharing Yami's announcement post on Instagram, Dhar joked about the film's unusual storyline and wrote, “So this is what I married into!” Yami responded in a light-hearted manner, teasing her husband by asking why he does not try writing films himself and asking audiences to wait until October 16 for the movie.

The film's announcement revealed that Nayyi Navelli will revolve around a seemingly perfect bride who enters a chaotic household in Meerut and transforms it into what initially appears to be an ideal home. However, the bride's brother-in-law begins to suspect that her perfection may hide something sinister. The synopsis suggests that the character could be an evil supernatural force, setting up a fantasy-driven family entertainer with elements of mystery and humour.

Yami shared details of the project along with its announcement, confirming that she will headline the film. Nayyi Navelli is being produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma under Colour Yellow, with Balaji Mohan serving as director. Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma have written the film. The project is scheduled to release on October 16 and is expected to combine family drama with supernatural elements. The film will also be available for streaming on Amazon Prime after its theatrical release.

The announcement comes after Yami recently reflected on the difficulties she faced during the early stages of her acting career. The actor said she had nearly decided to leave the film industry before Uri: The Surgical Strike and Bala changed the course of her career. She recalled considering a return to Himachal Pradesh and starting a different life before the opportunities arrived. Yami said her parents had supported the possibility of her returning home, but she eventually continued acting after the success of those films.

Yami has since established herself with a range of performances across commercial and content-driven projects. Earlier this year, she received the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in Article 370. Aditya Dhar, meanwhile, has continued to expand his work as a filmmaker and writer, with his recent projects contributing to his growing profile in the Hindi film industry. The couple's professional association has also been closely followed by fans since their marriage in 2021.

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar married in an intimate ceremony in Himachal Pradesh on July 4, 2021. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Vedavaid, in May 2025. Their latest social media exchange offered fans a glimpse of their playful relationship as Yami prepares for Nayyi Navelli. With its unusual premise and supernatural twist, the film marks another distinctive project in Yami's career and is set to reach audiences later this year.
