Superstar Rajinikanth’s 171st film Coolie is all set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14, a day ahead of Independence Day. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the much-anticipated film is expected to be a high-octane action drama revolving around gold smuggling.
The makers unveiled a new black-and-white poster on Friday, featuring Rajinikanth in a rugged look, whistling with a stream of blood trickling down his forehead. The announcement came with the caption: “Sound-ah yethu! Deva Varraaru. #Coolie worldwide from August 14th (sic).”
Adding to the excitement, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will make a cameo appearance in the film. Lokesh Kanagaraj had even shared a behind-the-scenes photo a few weeks ago with Khan from the sets, sparking buzz online.
The ensemble cast features Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Reba Monica John in key roles. The technical crew includes top industry names like cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Philomin Raj, and music composer Anirudh Ravichander.
Coolie is expected to clash with Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, which is also scheduled for an August 14 release. The news of the impending box-office showdown quickly went viral, with fans drawing comparisons to the Salaar vs Dunki clash from 2023.
