Vikrant Massey Exits Franchise as Mirzapur Transitions to Big Screen
Jitendra Kumar replaces Vikrant Massey in Mirzapur movie version September release.
Actor Vikrant Massey has reflected on his experience working on the hit crime drama Mirzapur, saying the show's production was largely driven by a male team. Speaking about the atmosphere on set, Massey joked that around 85 per cent of the crew comprised men who often came together to "massage" their egos. His remarks come as excitement builds for Mirzapur: The Movie, which is set for a theatrical release in September.
The recently released teaser of Mirzapur: The Movie quickly went viral, delighting fans with the return of iconic characters such as Munna Bhaiya, played by Divyenndu, and Compounder, portrayed by Abhishek Banerjee. However, one notable absence was Vikrant Massey, whose portrayal of Bablu Pandit became one of the most memorable performances in the original series.
Although Bablu Pandit will return in the upcoming film, the role has been recast, with Jitendra Kumar stepping into the character instead of Massey. The casting change has sparked discussions among fans, many of whom associate the character closely with Massey's performance during the show's early seasons. Despite not being part of the film, the actor continues to be linked with the franchise because of his significant contribution to its success.

Mirzapur remains one of India's most successful OTT franchises, known for its gritty storytelling and memorable characters. With the transition from streaming to the big screen, Mirzapur: The Movie aims to expand the franchise's reach to cinema audiences. While Vikrant Massey will not reprise his role, his portrayal of Bablu Pandit continues to be remembered as one of the defining elements of the series.
