AR Rahman Congratulates Vijay On Historic Election Win; Wishes "Corruption-Free Politics"

AR Rahman congratulates Vijay on election win; wishes corruption-free governance.

Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman congratulated actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay following his party’s landmark performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, praising his leadership ambitions and vision for the state.

Taking to social media platform X, Rahman extended his wishes to Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which has emerged as the single largest party in the state. In his message, Rahman expressed hope that Vijay would evolve into a leader who champions corruption-free governance, social justice, and equality.

Rahman’s message highlighted the importance of inclusive politics and cultural pride, noting that Tamil Nadu could benefit from leadership that celebrates its identity while promoting unity. He also wished for Chennai to grow into a vibrant hub of art and prosperity under Vijay’s leadership.

The congratulatory note comes after TVK’s strong electoral debut, where the party led in 107 out of 234 constituencies, marking a significant shift in the state’s political dynamics. Vijay’s rise has disrupted the long-standing dominance of traditional political parties and introduced a new wave of voter engagement, particularly among the youth.

Despite emerging as the largest party, TVK remains short of the majority mark required to form the government independently. Political observers suggest that the party may need to seek alliances or external support to secure power in the state.

Vijay’s success has drawn comparisons with former actor-politicians like M. G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, both of whom successfully transitioned from cinema to leadership. Rahman’s endorsement adds to the growing list of public figures acknowledging Vijay’s historic political milestone.
