Veteran Actor Dharmendra On Ventilator Support In Mumbai Hospital, Sources Confirm

89-year-old Bollywood legend Dharmendra on ventilator in Mumbai hospital due to respiratory issues.

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been placed on ventilator support at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, sources close to the family told NDTV. The 89-year-old star was admitted over a week ago after he experienced respiratory difficulties. Doctors are said to be closely monitoring his condition as the actor battles age-related health issues.

The screen icon, who will mark his 90th birthday on December 8, has had a few health setbacks in recent years. In April, Dharmendra underwent an eye graft surgery, after which he largely stayed away from public gatherings. Known for his enduring charm and energy, the actor has remained active in the film industry well into his late 80s, continuing to appear in selected film projects and family events.

Dharmendra’s illustrious career spans more than six decades, beginning with his debut in the 1960 film Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. Celebrated for portraying the quintessential common man in classics such as Anpadh, Bandini, and Anupama, he went on to become one of Indian cinema’s most beloved leading men. His performances in Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh remain defining moments in Bollywood history.

The actor was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His upcoming film, Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan and starring Agastya Nanda, is slated for release on December 25.
