Venkat Prabhu, Khushbu Sundar Root For Vijay Amid Tamil Nadu Uncertainty

Uncertainty over government formation in Tamil Nadu has continued to fuel intense political speculation, even as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader C. Joseph Vijay’s supporters and film industry personalities expressed confidence in his potential rise to the Chief Minister’s office.

The political situation remains fluid after TVK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, emerged as the single largest party in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly with 108 seats, but fell short of the 118-seat majority required to form the government. Despite securing support letters from Congress, CPI, and CPI(M), along with outside backing from Left parties, the alliance has yet to receive a formal invitation from the Governor to form the government, keeping the post-election process unresolved.

Amid this uncertainty, allegations and counter-allegations have further complicated the political landscape. AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran recently alleged irregularities involving a support letter attributed to MLA-elect Kamaraj, accusing rival camps of misinformation and “horse-trading.” TVK has denied these claims and insisted that its documentation is valid, while also asserting that it does not need to “negotiate or bargain” for forming a government.

As the political drama unfolded, sections of the Tamil film industry openly expressed support for Vijay. Director Venkat Prabhu, who worked with the actor on The GOAT (2024), posted a message on social media suggesting optimism and resilience, stating that challenges are temporary and expressing confidence that “only good things will happen.” He also reshared a post referring to Vijay in a symbolic manner linked to leadership.

Actor and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar also publicly extended wishes, referring to Vijay as “Thalapathy” and addressing him in a post as “Chief Minister,” while sharing images from his campaign rallies. Actor Sibi Sathyaraj and others from the film fraternity also reportedly voiced support, reflecting Vijay’s strong influence within the Kollywood community even as his political journey enters a critical phase.

The ongoing developments have triggered widespread debate among political observers and the public, with competing claims over majority support, disputed letters, and shifting alliances adding to the uncertainty. Meanwhile, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s decision on government formation remains awaited, making Tamil Nadu’s political future highly contested and closely watched.
