Trailer of Akshay, Madhavan starrer Kesari Chapter 2 arrives
Set around the events of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the film also features Ananya Panday
Fans cannot seem to wait for the release of Kesari Chapter 2 as the trailer which arrived today has got the fans' approval over social media platforms.
Starring Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan in the leads, the historical drama dwells on the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The trailer features intense courtroom exchanges, harrowing visuals of the massacre, and a powerful narrative of justice and courage. The film explores the untold story of the legal battle that exposed the horrors of the massacre to the world.
The movie is said to be based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. It is about the story of Sir C Sankaran Nair, an intrepid lawyer who challenged the British Empire in the 1920s following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Sankaran Nair, while Madhavan plays the British lawyer, Neville McKinley, who defends the colonial rulers. Nair was an Indian lawyer who was the sole Indian representative in the Viceroy’s Executive Council during the time of the massacre.
The story is mostly a courtroom drama, and the perseverance of people like Sankaran Nair. Ananya Panday is said to play a character named Dilreet Gill, a pioneering female lawyer breaking gender stereotypes.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 is set to release on April 18, 2025, and is produced by Dharma Productions in collaboration with Cape of Good Films and Leo Media Collective.
The movie is also a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, which depicted the Battle of Saragarhi, a military conflict. Debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi brings his legal expertise to the film, having studied law at Harvard University.
