Swara Bhaskar’s New Priority: Motherhood Trumps Bollywood Ambitions
Actor Swara Bhaskar opens up about prioritizing her daughter Raabiya over chasing film roles.
Swara Bhaskar, known for her powerful performances in films like Tanu Weds Manu and Nil Battey Sannata, has shifted her focus from chasing Bollywood roles to embracing motherhood since welcoming her daughter Raabiya in 2023. In an interview with PTI, the 37-year-old actor revealed that motherhood has profoundly reshaped her priorities, leading to an identity crisis that she believes many women experience but few discuss. “The hardest part of being a mom was not knowing who I am. I was such an ambitious, driven person before this,” she said.
Bhaskar is currently navigating the balance between parenting and her career, starring alongside her husband, Fahad Ahmad, in the reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga on Colors TV, which features celebrity couples like Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla. Despite initial hesitation due to the demands of parenting, Bhaskar agreed to the show’s lighthearted format, which requires only one or two days of shooting per week. “I don’t want to leave the house… It’s been very hard to get to know who I am,” she admitted, highlighting the challenges of juggling motherhood and work.
No longer driven by the rush to “bounce back” into films, Bhaskar prioritizes financial stability for her daughter’s future. “I’m not chasing films… I’m chasing financial stability,” she said, emphasizing her lifelong role as a mother. Ahmad, initially skeptical about the show, found its fun atmosphere enjoyable, marking a new chapter for the couple as they balance family and professional endeavors.
