Bollywood superstar Sunny Deol is celebrating in style after his latest film, Border 2, emerged as a massive box-office success. Sharing a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, the actor was seen cutting a cake alongside his team while they sang, “Happy Border to you… Happy Border to Sunny Ji.” Sunny expressed his gratitude to fans, saying, “Ye hamari team hai, and we are having a good time because aap sabko hamari ye film pasand aayi” (This is our team, and we are having a great time because you all liked our film).
Border 2 has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide and has collected over Rs 235.25 crore in India alone, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Despite a slight dip following the Republic Day weekend, the film’s Day 8 earnings stood at Rs 11 crore, reflecting strong and sustained audience interest. Theatre occupancy on Friday was 15.05 per cent, with night shows performing best at 23.65 per cent.
Key metropolitan markets continued to show strong performance. In Mumbai, the film screened across 851 shows with 21 per cent occupancy, while the Delhi NCR region recorded 1,270 shows at 14.67 per cent occupancy. Analysts note that the release of Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 on January 30, which opened at Rs 3.8 crore on its first day, has not significantly impacted Border 2’s box-office momentum.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a patriotic war drama and a sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster Border. The film features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. It has been produced by Nidhi Dutta, daughter of JP Dutta, along with Bhushan Kumar.
Industry experts attribute the film’s continued success to its mix of star power, patriotic themes, and strong storytelling. With sustained audience engagement, Border 2 is poised to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, cementing Sunny Deol’s continued dominance at the box office.
