Suniel Shetty’s Emotional Advice to Ahan: ‘Grab It With Both Hands’
Suniel Shetty shares heartfelt guidance for son Ahan ahead of his pivotal role in Border 2.
Veteran actor Suniel Shetty recently opened up with deep emotion about his son Ahan Shetty’s journey in the film industry, particularly as Ahan steps into the highly anticipated sequel Border 2. The father-son duo’s connection to the Border franchise runs deep—Suniel starred in the iconic 1997 original directed by JP Dutta, where he earned immense respect for his portrayal of a soldier. Now, nearly three decades later, Ahan joins the cast as a naval officer in this ambitious patriotic war drama, making it a full-circle moment for the family.
At a recent event, Suniel grew visibly choked up while recounting the advice he gave Ahan before he began shooting. “The only thing I told him was, I don’t know how much your father has achieved, but he has got a lot of love and respect. Keep that. Because it will come to you. The minute it comes to you, grab it with both hands and hold on to it, value it,” Suniel shared. This poignant counsel emphasizes cherishing the goodwill and admiration from audiences and peers, a lesson drawn from Suniel’s own career highs and the respect he commands in the industry.
Suniel also reflected on the challenges Ahan faced after his 2021 debut Tadap, which didn’t perform as expected at the box office. He highlighted that despite perceptions of privilege for star kids, Ahan endured a tough phase with limited opportunities. “Life hasn’t been a bed of roses for my son,” Suniel noted emotionally, crediting Border 2 producers for giving Ahan this breakthrough role at the right time. He expressed immense gratitude, calling it the perfect project to showcase Ahan’s potential and carry forward the legacy.

Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and featuring an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, promises stirring patriotism and action centered on the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Suniel has been closely following Ahan’s work, admitting that positive feedback and warm audience reactions bring tears to his eyes. He keeps his pride understated, simply telling his son “good job” while privately cherishing the moment.
As Border 2 gears up for its release on January 23, 2026, the Shetty family’s involvement adds an extra layer of emotion. Suniel’s words serve as both fatherly wisdom and a reminder of the value of integrity, hard work, and gratitude in Bollywood’s demanding landscape.
