SRK, Kajol Reunite With Nysa and Yug at DDLJ Statue Unveiling in London
30 years of DDLJ celebrated with ultimate family photo in London.
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol turned Leicester Square into a sea of nostalgia on Thursday as they unveiled a bronze statue immortalising their iconic open-arms pose from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge on the film’s 30th anniversary. What made the moment even more special was the presence of Kajol’s children, Nysa and Yug, who joined the two legends for photographs that instantly broke the internet.
In a heart-melting video that has clocked millions of views, Kajol is seen waving her children over while Shah Rukh Khan stands protectively holding an umbrella. Nysa flashes a confident smile for the cameras while younger brother Yug appears adorably camera-shy, standing close to his mother. Fans immediately declared the frame “picture-perfect” and “full-circle romance,” with many joking that Yug’s side profile bears an uncanny resemblance to a young SRK.
Speaking at the unveiling, Shah Rukh Khan reflected on the film’s enduring legacy, stating, “DDLJ was made with a pure heart. We wanted to tell a story about love that bridges barriers. To see it celebrated 30 years later, and to stand here with Kajol receiving this honour, is deeply humbling.” Kajol, visibly emotional, described the experience as “unbelievable,” adding that she still needs to return with her reading glasses to properly take in the statue that now stands permanently in London’s iconic film district.

The statue, commissioned as part of the British Film Institute’s “Scenes in the Square” trail, marks the first time a Bollywood film has been honoured in Leicester Square alongside Hollywood classics. Directed by Aditya Chopra and released in October 1995, DDLJ remains the longest-running film in Indian cinema history and continues to define romance for generations across the globe.
As photographs of Shah Rukh, Kajol, Nysa and Yug posing together flooded social media, fans crowned it the ultimate DDLJ family portrait, with comments ranging from “This is the real Raj and Simran family” to emotional declarations that the magic of the 1995 blockbuster has officially passed to the next generation.
