Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan will headline the grand opening of City of Dreams Sri Lanka on August 2, 2025, marking the launch of South Asia’s first luxury-integrated resort in Colombo. The by-invitation event, dubbed the region’s most glamorous of 2025, will kick off the resort’s “Let’s Go, Let Go” campaign, promising a blend of luxury, entertainment, and unparalleled hospitality.

Developed by John Keells Holdings (JKH) and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, the 4.5-million-square-foot architectural marvel at 01 Justice Akbar Mawatha, designed by renowned architect Cecil Balmond, features 800 luxury hotel rooms, wellness retreats, premium retail, and diverse culinary experiences, all set against stunning views of the Indian Ocean and Colombo’s skyline. The resort also introduces Melco’s Nuwa luxury hotel brand and a world-class casino, alongside the region’s largest meeting and event spaces, including cantilevered ballrooms adorned with Sri Lankan art.

The opening celebrates Colombo’s transformation into a global business and lifestyle hub, with state-of-the-art facilities poised to attract high-end travelers and corporate events. JKH, Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate with a 155-year legacy, and Melco, a leader in integrated resorts across Asia and Europe, aim to redefine hospitality in the region.
