Seema Sajdeh Shares Reasons For 2022 Divorce From Sohail Khan, Co-Parenting Sons

Seema Sajdeh cites age gap growth, depression, and independence struggles after the amicable Sohail Khan divorce.

Years after her separation from actor Sohail Khan, Fashion Entrepreneur Seema Sajdeh has spoken candidly about their amicable divorce, reflecting on the reasons behind the decision and the personal journey that followed. The former couple, who married in 1998, officially ended their marriage in 2022 after more than two decades together. They share two sons, Nirvaan and Yohaan, and continue to co-parent them.

In an interview with Usha Kakade Productions, Seema said that age, timing, and personal growth gradually created distance in their relationship. She explained that both she and Sohail were very young when they got married and had not fully anticipated how individuals evolve over time. As their perspectives changed, they realized they were more compatible as friends than as husband and wife.

Seema emphasized that the decision to separate was not taken lightly or in haste. According to her, maintaining peace at home became more important than staying together in an unhappy marriage. She said the separation was amicable and limited strictly to their roles as spouses, adding that they continue to function as a family for the sake of their children.

She also acknowledged the emotional toll the divorce took on her and her sons, revealing that the period following the separation was difficult. Seema shared that she experienced depression and that the family took several years to reach the decision, waiting for what they felt was the right time, particularly with their children’s well-being in mind.

Rejecting any notion of blame, Seema said responsibility in a relationship is shared. She noted that both partners contribute equally to making a marriage work or recognizing when it no longer does. According to her, the choice to part ways was made thoughtfully, with maturity and mutual respect.

Speaking about life after divorce, Seema said one of her biggest challenges was learning to be practically independent. She described having to manage finances, insurance, and daily responsibilities on her own for the first time. Seema said the experience taught her time management and self-reliance, adding that she is now focused on her business and raising her children while moving forward in life.
