Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War Scheduled For January 2027 Release After Multiple Delays
Love & War set for January 2027 release after delays
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated period drama Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, has officially locked its theatrical release for January 2027 after facing multiple delays in production and scheduling shifts.
The announcement was confirmed by the makers on Friday, bringing clarity to a film that has repeatedly shifted its timeline since it was first announced. Initially expected to release in 2025, the project was later pushed to 2026 and has now been firmly scheduled for January 21, 2027, according to official updates from Bhansali Productions and multiple entertainment outlets.
The delay is largely attributed to the film’s large-scale production requirements, including extensive shooting schedules, elaborate set pieces, and complex post-production work. Industry reports suggest that Bhansali’s emphasis on visual detailing and grand cinematic design has contributed to extended timelines, a recurring feature in several of his previous ambitious projects.

Love & War is described as a period romantic drama centered on a love triangle involving two Air Force officers, with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal reportedly playing military roles and Alia Bhatt at the center of the emotional conflict. The film marks a major collaboration between the three leading actors and the acclaimed director, generating strong anticipation within the industry.
The project has been in development for several years and has already seen multiple revised release plans, including earlier targets in 2025 and 2026 that were later abandoned due to production delays. The latest confirmation effectively resets expectations and places the film in a prime Republic Day–adjacent window in early 2027.
With the release date now officially finalized, the focus shifts to completion of remaining production work and post-production finishing. The film remains one of Bollywood’s most awaited releases, driven by its star cast and Bhansali’s reputation for large-scale, visually rich storytelling.
