Salman Khan’s Cancer Care Support Went Far Beyond Charity, Says Activist

On the occasion of Salman Khan's 60th birthday on December 27, 2025, renowned cancer care activist Viji Venkatesh shared a deeply moving tribute on Instagram, highlighting the actor's longstanding and personal commitment to supporting those battling cancer. Venkatesh, who has worked closely with cancer patients and their families for years, recounted her first meeting with Salman at Tata Memorial Hospital in 2010. During that encounter, Salman handed her his phone number, assuring her she could call him anytime someone needed help. Over the past 15 years, he has kept that promise, always ensuring she had his latest contact details and responding promptly whenever assistance was required.

Venkatesh shared several poignant examples of Salman's quiet acts of kindness. One of the most touching involved a 12-year-old girl undergoing chemotherapy who had lost hope. Salman personally called her, encouraged her to continue treatment, and stayed in touch, motivating her through the difficult journey. Today, that girl is a healthy 27-year-old preparing for her public administration exams. In another instance, after reading about a young girl in need of a bone marrow transplant, Salman immediately volunteered to bring his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail to get tested as potential matches, demonstrating his willingness to involve his family directly in helping others.

The activist also recalled how Salman once removed his gold earring and had it delivered to a dying boy with bone cancer in Meerut, hoping it would bring him some comfort. On another occasion, he spontaneously cancelled a shoot to visit children in the cancer ward at KEM Hospital, spending time with them and bringing joy to their day. When a little patient from Indore couldn't visit a film studio, Salman opened his home to the child, spending over an hour making sure the young fan felt truly special and valued.

Viji Venkatesh emphasized that Salman's support was never about publicity or photo opportunities. Whether it was counselling a former studio worker battling cancer, reaching out to a neighbour in need, or simply being there for friends' relatives, his actions were consistent, discreet, and deeply compassionate. She wrote that it is difficult to introduce someone like Salman without sounding clichéd, yet the truth of his deeds demands to be told. Through her post, she expressed immense gratitude for his relentless dedication to those fighting cancer.
