Salman Khan Films Rejects Reports Of Pending CBFC Clearance For 'Maatrubhumi' Movie
Production house says Maatrubhumi remains unsubmitted to CBFC.
Salman Khan Films has dismissed reports claiming that its upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is facing delays in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). In an official statement shared on Instagram, the production house termed the reports "entirely baseless" and clarified that the film has not yet been submitted to the censor board for certification.
The clarification came a day after media reports suggested that the film, inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, was awaiting CBFC approval. Rejecting the claims, Salman Khan Films said there was no question of the certification process being delayed or put on hold because the submission process had not yet begun. The production house also urged media organisations and social media users to refrain from circulating unverified information regarding the film's certification status.
In its statement, Salman Khan Films said, "Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification. Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless." It further added, "We request that media outlets and individuals refrain from circulating unverified information. Any official updates regarding the film will be shared by Salman Khan Films through its official channels only."

The clarification follows earlier reports citing sources that claimed the film's certification process was underway at the Central Board of Film Certification. According to those reports, the film's clearance had not been withheld and the certification process was progressing normally, with sources maintaining that the approval process was pending but not on hold. However, Salman Khan Films has now categorically stated that the project has not yet been submitted to the CBFC, contradicting those earlier claims.
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is reportedly inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, one of the most significant military confrontations between India and China in recent decades. The film was initially scheduled for release on April 17 ahead of the Eid holiday but was later postponed. It is now expected to arrive in theatres in August, although the makers have not yet announced a revised release date.
With the production house issuing a formal clarification, speculation surrounding the film's censor certification has been addressed for now. Attention is expected to shift to the project's eventual submission to the CBFC and the announcement of a confirmed theatrical release date. Salman Khan Films has reiterated that any future updates regarding Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, including certification and release details, will be communicated exclusively through its official channels.
