Book reveals inspiring rehabilitation of former militants

Bollywood icon and social activist Raveena Tandon launched The Bravehearts, a powerful non-fiction book by Ramachandran Srinivasan, Sanjay Kumar, and Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, at a heartfelt event at Title Waves bookstore in Bandra. The book uncovers a remarkable 23-year Indian Army initiative that rehabilitated over 3,000 former militants, transforming them into dedicated soldiers.

At the launch, Raveena Tandon declared, “This book is a revelation. It shows that true victory lies in turning adversaries into guardians of our nation.” She praised the Army’s compassion and belief in second chances, urging every Indian to read the inspiring stories. Veteran journalist Ramachandran Srinivasan emphasized, “These untold tales of silent service and reclaimed lives deserve to be heard, redefining what patriotism means.”

Sanjay Kumar, a conflict resolution expert and key figure in the program, said, “This wasn’t just about changing minds—it was about restoring dignity and trust.” Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, a former militant turned soldier and Kargil War whistleblower, added, “I lived this transformation. This book reflects India’s choice of humanity over hatred.”
